"You have no idea how successful the project has been...the kids have shown a tremendous improvement in attitudes during class and all this has been happening from day one itself. It's amazing...like magic.” (HumanAID)

Community Counseling

Developed an 8-month training program for members of a church to serve as lay counselors in a community counseling center. We identified suitable members, trained and supervised them in providing adult counseling services to the community at large.

In total, more than one hundred people have been trained through this program and the center serves more than two hundred people annually.

Some of the lay counselors have taken professional counseling training and today are training and managing the center independently using the training modules and systems we developed.

Art Program for Trafficked Women

Developed an Expressive Art project delivered at the protection shelter for trafficked women and girls. The art based program was selected because of the language and cultural barriers that made traditional forms of counseling and care giving impossible.

We recruited, selected, and trained the volunteers to deliver Expressive Art workshops and retreats for the women and girls housed at the shelter as well as the staff of the shelter.

The volunteers now are able to run this program independently.

Children Living with HIV/AIDS

We recruited, trained, and supervised college students in Expressive Sandwork to deliver two twelve-week programs at an organization that provides services to underprivileged children who are living with HIV/AIDS.

The program achieved a 90% attendance rate and was enthusiastically supported by the parents of the children. The counselor from the center reported significant improvements in the children.

Today that counselor volunteers with us as program head for all Sandwork projects and trains four new volunteer teams each year to serve other communities in need.
